Privacy Notice
1. Who is responsible
The responsible party (“controller”) is the artist and site owner KnoXXsiC. For anything in this notice, or to exercise your rights, email info@bromboks.com. This notice is written to meet South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and is designed to also work for visitors in the EU/EEA and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA) and elsewhere.
2. What we collect
- Visit statistics. The Site uses the open-source analytics tool Matomo, hosted on xavlox.com, which is run by the site owner’s own company. It is configured with cookies disabled and to respect your browser’s “Do Not Track” signal. It may record pages viewed, the time of the visit, the page you came from, your browser and device type, screen size, language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Server logs. Our web host records technical request data (such as IP address, time, requested file and browser type) for security and to keep the Site running.
- Fonts. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore contacts Google, which receives your IP address and browser details. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Data stored in your own browser. The music player saves settings on your device (for example volume, continuous play, the current playlist, and whether you unlocked a private page in this browser session). This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
- Email you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and email address to reply and for our records.
We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, sensitive or special personal information, and the Site is not directed at children.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use this information to run and secure the Site, understand which pages and music people enjoy, and answer your messages. Our basis is our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); POPIA section 11(1)(f)), and, for email correspondence, taking steps at your request. We do not use it for advertising, profiling or automated decisions that affect you.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context advertising (as those terms are used in California law). We share data only with the service providers that run the Site (web hosting, analytics infrastructure, Google Fonts), who may process it only to provide their service, and where required by law or to protect legal rights.
5. International transfers
The Site is run from South Africa and visitors come from many countries, so information may be processed in South Africa or in other countries where our providers operate. Where law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
6. How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. Server logs and analytics data are kept for a limited period; email correspondence is kept as long as needed to deal with your request and for our records.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You may also object to the use of your information for analytics. Email info@bromboks.com and we will respond within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You may complain to a data-protection authority: in South Africa, the Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za); in the EU/EEA, your national supervisory authority; in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office; elsewhere, your local regulator.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No system is completely secure; please contact us right away if you suspect a problem.
9. Cookies
The Site itself sets no cookies. Third-party services we load (such as Google Fonts) are governed by their own policies.
10. Changes
We may update this notice; the date at the top shows the current version. Your use of the Site is also covered by our Terms of Use.
